The island is 36.99 km  northeast of the country’s capital, Malé. Dhiffushi is 0.95 km  in length and just 0.2 km wide, with a total land area of 22.3 ha (55 acres). It is located next to Meeru Island Resort. The island has Maldivian flora and fauna with coconut palms along the shoreline. Dhiffushi is famous for its beautiful beaches and turquoise lagoon. Population of Dhiffushi is approx. 700 people. The island has a hospital, two mosques and public school.

Dhiffushi is the most eastern inhabited island in the Maldives and hence the island witnesses sunrise first in the country. There are about six sandbanks at very close proximity to the island along with snorkelling and diving sites. The island’s house reef is more than 10 km (6.2 mi) long housing colorful corals, many varieties of fishes and other marine flora and fauna.

The island has a Dive & Water Sports Centres, hospital, mosque, Restaurants, Coffee bars, shops, fishing vessels,gueshouses and entertainment facilities. Soccer is one of the favorite sports. Traditionally Dhiffushi is island of Entertainment with local music bands and entertainment clubs. This island as known for its “Bandiyaa Group” – traditional music group featuring various entertainment items.

However, when you go into the island near locals proper attire is compulsory. For ladies Bikini is not allowed. As we are a tourist Island, people are friendly and welcoming. You can visit any part of the island anytime without any restrictions and observe and mingle with locals.
